Content Syndication Streamlining The Process

Have you taken a look at the way in which you are syndicating content out to the social networking sites? To be more specific, the actual structure of your syndication process.

If you haven’t I encourage you to take a look at it and make sure you’re not making the same mistake I was making….

Syndicating duplicate content!

A few weeks ago I was checking out my Twitter profile and I noticed that a recent blog post I had made had been tweeted four times within five minutes.

Now that would not have been a problem, had it been other folks Retweeting my content. But with all of those Tweets coming from me…. It could come across as a little spammy.

How To Connect Your Social Networking Sites For Syndication

  • Connecting Blog To FaceBook Page
    • Search for NetworkBlog in FaceBook
    • Under the search results locate “APPS” and select NetworkBlog
    • Once you are taken to the NetworkBlog app, click on register blog
    • Select your FaceBook page and add your blogs RSS feed
  • Connecting FaceBook Page To Twitter –
    • Search for IFrameWrapper in FaceBook
    • Click install
    • Click “Add another menu item to this page” and select the Twitter icon
    • You’ll be given 3 chooses – HTML, I Frame & CMS. Select I Frame
  • Connecting Twitter To LinkedIn –
    • Login into your LinkedIn account
    • Hover above your name in the upper right corner
    • Click on settings
    • Click on manage Twitter settings
    • Add your Twitter account
    • NOTE: If you check “Sharing Tweets” this will only allow Tweets to show up on your LinkedIn account that have #in or #li in them.

I didn’t mention it in the video but by linking your accounts in this manner also allows your status updates to be posted on the connecting Social site.

So if you post an update on your Facebook page, it will also show up on your Twiiter and Linkedin profiles.

There you have it. As always, leave a comment and share your thoughts. And if you found this post to be helpful, please spread the around by sharing.

Thanks for the tips, Anthony. A quick look at my Twitter profile shows me I need to be active syndicating on a consistent, daily basis, because I’m using the WP plugin called Tweet Old Posts. Every few hours, it tweets one of my own blog posts. If I don’t have retweets and others’ blogs tweeted in between times, it can look a bit like I’m tooting my own horn.

Hey Willena your welcome. And thank you for sharing that plugin, I’m installing it right after I finish posting this comment. LOL, I see where it could look like I’ll be tooting my own horn if I don’t Tweet updates in between the automated Tweets. Again thanks.

I use Dlvr.it to syndicate to all of my social networks. I tried so many different tools and that works best. I actually said that at a couple conferences and got some great feedback from other users who switched (the service is free.)

I also use Dlvr.it to automate feeds from blogs in my niche that I think people will be interested in just as much.

blondishnet I was using Only Wire and the mistake I made was not only was Only Wire syndicating my content but I had all of the Social sites connect to one another so the same content was being posted on my profile numerous times… It was a mess LOL! Going to take a look at Dlvr.it and see what it has to offer… Thanks Nile!

      Nile,

I’m gonna have to look into that one. The little experience that I’ve had with the more popular synidicators, just wasn’t doin’ it for me. Thanks for sharing!

    Hey Anthony

    Great advice.

I too discovered multiple posts both on Facebook and Twitter and I had to reorganize my sharing strategy.

Hey Nile, thanks for the tip about Dlvr.it

@Peter Fuller MBA Thank you for your comment. Some may think that syndicating their content in this manner means more exposure but I think it does just the opposite and makes you appear desperate for traffic, sales or comments…. Just my opinion.

    Hi Anthony,

Very interesting. I have seen the repeated tweets and I was wondering the same thing.. Also, it doesn’t really look good for your followers (not just for Google) .

    Thanks for sharing your strategy!

@CynAjoy Thank you for your comment! That’s true I didn’t even mention the fact that Google won’t be too crazy about the duplicate content. Thanks for pointing that out!

It is definitely important to have a plan with your syndication! While I don’t have the same configuration I do have a similar set up. Also timing is important, it can be set up to happen at various intervals.

If you could, can you share your syndication is setup? If there’s a better way I would love to hear.
