If you’ve been on Facebook for any length of time, then you should know what Facebook groups are.
If you don’t know what they are, I like to describe them as, a “Profile Page” that’s geared towards a specific topic or interest.
And if you’re like me, I’m sure it’s safe to make the assumption that you belong to a half dozen or more.
As an Internet Marketer, I would also say that it’s a pretty safe bet to say, that you have started a Facebook group or two of your own at some point.
If you haven’t started one, you should! They offer tremendous marketing & branding potential.
Just make sure you don’t allow the following to happen to your group.
A BIG PROBLEM WITH FACEBOOK GROUPS:
One of the biggest problems I see with Facebook Groups, is that most creators or administrators don’t monitor their group(s) as closely as they should…. if at all.
As a result, nearly everything that’s being posted is nothing more than SPAM!
There’s no discussions going on, very little if anything of value or substance is being posted, no relationship building of any sort occurring.
After a while, their Facebook group has absolutely nothing to offer, ZERO value.
But it appears that most group creators don’t mind this, because they see their group’s member number increasing.
And for many this is how they measure the success of their group, by the number of members.
But what they fail to realize is that…
Large Member Numbers + No Admin Oversight = SPAM Heaven!
It’s not about the number of members your group has, its about the CONTENT your group has to offer.
When good content and conversation is being offered…. the numbers will follow!
TIPS TO MAINTAIN YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP’S VALUE:
- Monitor your group! Assign a couple of members as administrators to assist you.
- Post topics that make your members what to respond.
- Delete outright spam and give the responsible member one warning. Block them if they continue.
- Include a clear description of what your group is about and encourage members to stay on topic.
- Avoid sending numerous promotional messages to members of your group.
- Post relevant and valuable information & resources. Whether it’s Educational, Inspirational, Motivational or just something Humorous.
Conclusion:
As I stated previously, starting a Facebook group is a great way market and brand yourself.
But if you’re going to take the time to start one, then why not take the time to run it properly, so that you can get the most out of it?
Utilizing these 6 tips surely won’t hurt you in your efforts.

Great tips Anthony. I agree with your point about the importance of monitoring the group activity – it just seems sometimes as thought as determined as some of the “spammers” to inject their junk that could easily become a sull time job. I don’t think I’d be willing to invest the kind of time it would take to have my own group, but it does make me value and appreciate those few groups I’ve found that do a good job of keeping the feed relatively spam free. Thanks!

Hey there Marquita,
You’re right running a group can be very time consuming. It really helps to have a few helping hands to assist as monitors. I ran a group a few years ago that had a few hundred members and I found myself spending more time than I had planned running it. But dispite that I do plan on starting up another in the near future.

Hey there Nathalie,
Thanks for the comment. Sorry about the late reply. Been on vacation and didn’t have laptop with me. Anyway, there are a few good groups left:https://www.facebook.com/groups/Jordanschultz.mlmsuccess/, https://www.facebook.com/groups/attractionmarketingtraining/, https://www.facebook.com/MLMAlphasTribe, https://www.facebook.com/MLMGlobalMastermindTribe. They are far and few.

Anthony you have sited some very relevant points here! I can tell when people monitor because they like and comment on posts in the group. Sometimes however, they over-monitor. I have had someone call a blog post (value based) spam, and that is not true. If you are not sure what is relevant, private message the admin for clarification.
I have left groups that were spammy as you say zero value. Its not a matter of how many post but how many participate!

Hi Lynda,
Thanks for the comment! I too have been accused of spamming after sharing a VALUABLE piece of content on a FB group. You’re so right, contacting the admin a head of time is a great idea…. Better safe than sorry! It’s funny though, I light up when I see a group that’s full of spammers, because I see a whole bunch of folks who are about to get hit with some value, attraction marketing and a some knowledge on this thing called Internet Marketing.

Anthony,
this is a subject that I have not seen much spoken of. I guess everyone was satisfied until you have greatly exposed the truth. Yes, awesome find…
I agree with all the people who are on and joining daily should utilize some common sense with the adm. It is the members responsibility to maintain ethical actions also. There brand is mixed in with that location and will be seen as one who accepts negative practices. Yes, Adm is overseer and also each member is held to a higher standard than some guess surfing.
Anthony, your an amazing young visionary in our industry. I look forward in your development. Thank you for conintued support and sharing. I look forward in your next amazing fined.

William thank you for the flattering comment. I couldn’t agree with you more, when you say that some of the responsibility lye’s with the group members.
For me it would be disrespectful to go on to someone else’s property and dis-face it in any manner. And when people enter someone’s Facebook group and post blatant spam, I view it as one in the same.
